I received an Advance Reading Copy of The 9 Lives Of Alexander Baddenfield (****) via the ARCycling program, donated by the people at Reviewing thanks to everyone involved! This in no way influences my review except to ensure that it exists, as I likely would not otherwise have acquired a copy of the book. Being so bad has earned them all very short lives and Alexander is the very last Baddenfield left. So he comes up with a plan to have lives to spare and end the Baddenfield curse. This is a very quick and fun read. I will say up front that obviously this book talks about death and parents should be aware of that.5/5(1).

The 9 Lives of Alexander Baddenfield presents a litany of gruesome ways that Alexander, who has had the nine lives of his pet cat surgically implanted in him, conceives to kill himself, just for the thrill of it, because, "Death is cool!" The descriptions of his many deaths are often graphic and range from his being electrocuted by the third rail on the New York subway to a car crash ("The boy 3/5.

All of the elder, equally venal generations of Baddenfields having perished young, year-old Alexander decides to have a life transplant, using the eight extra lives of his cat, Shaddenfrood, as a resource—and over the protests of his faithful servant, Winterbottom (as good as Alexander is bad).

Reading The 9 Lives of Alexander Baddenfield by John Bemelmans Marciano was pure delight – although I’m not sure if that’s a good thing since this book deals with a bratty 12 year old boy who squanders the lives he is given without any recourse to his evil ways. But, then, that’s what The 9 lives of Alexander Baddenfield book this book so much fun to read.

Alexander Baddenfield is the sole heir to the Baddenfield name. From the Publisher5/5(1). I read The Nine Lives of Alexander Baddenfield after reading the amazon reviews. This book is a quick, easy read that would appeal to children who do not like to read because it is easy to understand, and the story is unusual.

Yes, it is about a young boy who laughs at death, but in no way does this book condone thoughts of suicide or death/5(13). But Alexander Baddenfield (probably the baddest of the Baddenfield alive he is the only one left after all) finds a way to have 9 lives. The crazy adventures ensue as Alexander finds more unique (and terrifying) ways to use up those nine lives.

Alexander's daredevil antics come to an abrupt end, however, when he reaches his eighth life and suddenly begins to face mortality. At one point, a happy ending seems to be looming. Never fear: As readers are reminded early on, this is by no means "a Hollywood movie, or a fairy tale, or a run-of-the-mill chapter book.".
